Davido: Soldiers trying to prevent me from entering Osun
by The Eagle Online · The Eagle OnlineAfrobeat singer, David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, has said he has been reliably informed the Soldiers are going to prevent him from entering Osun State to participate in the governorship election on Saturday.
As earlier reported by The Eagle Online, Davido travelled to the United Kingdom to take part in a concert on Friday (yesterday).
However, the Nigeria Police Force has announced an 18-hour lockdown of Osun State ahead of the governorship election in which Davido’s uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is seeking reelection on the platform of Accord.
The concert in London was expected to end at about 10:30pm on Friday.
Tweeting on his X handle at about 12:11am on Saturday (today), Davido wrote: “I’ve been reliably informed that Soliders (Soldiers) are trying to prevent me from entering Osun tomorrow, this won’t happen, every citizen of Nigeria has the right to movement at any point of time.”
Davido in an earlier post said that he would be in Osun State before 7am as he had boarded a jet for the trip to Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the police in a statement on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer and a Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Ani Iniedu, said there would be restriction of movement from 12 midnight till 6pm on Saturday.
This has been the usual practice for elections since the return to democracy in Nigeria in 1999.
Davido performed at the Crystal Palace Bowl in London on Friday.
He headlined the ”Davido & Friends” concert organised as part of the Palace Bowl Presents summer festival series in the United Kingdom.

Davido announced the event earlier through his social media platforms, describing it as his first-ever festival in the United Kingdom and his only outdoor show in London this summer.
The event featured Davido alongside several artistes, including Omah Lay, Black Sherif, Gabzy, T x C, Jazzwrld & Thukuthela, Ecool, Morravey, and Boi Chase.
The official Palace Bowl Presents website listed the event for Friday, with doors scheduled to open at 3pm, and the concert expected to end by 10:30pm.
Davido on Wednesday shared promotional artwork for the concert on his Instagram Story, showing a “SOLD OUT” banner and expressing excitement ahead of the London performance.
