Oyo LG chairman sponsors 18 students at Abiola Ajimobi University
by Adenle Ahmed Abiola · The Eagle OnlineThe Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State has sponsored 18 indigenes on scholarship to study at Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan, over the past three years.
The council chairman, Rasaq Fadiran, disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Ibadan on Thursday, saying the initiative was designed to support brilliant students and equip them with skills that could contribute to the development of the community and the state.
Fadiran said the beneficiaries were selected through a screening process conducted by the institution and were pursuing courses in medicine, engineering, technology and basic digital skills.
“The beneficiaries of the programme were selected through thorough screening conducted by the institution, and they are studying courses in the medical, engineering, technology and basic digital skill acquisition areas to add value to the growth of Iseyin in particular, and Oyo in general,” he said.
He explained that support from the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde had enabled the local government to provide educational opportunities for qualified students seeking careers in medicine and technology.
“Since I became the Chairman of Iseyin Local Government three years ago, we have sponsored 18 brilliant students who are indigenes of the community to acquire education that will impact their lives, their community and the state positively.
“We give the credit to our progress-loving Governor Makinde, who made the platform, the wherewithal and encouragement for this laudable scheme possible.
“Oyo is known for the stride to lead in all things good, so in academic and educational development, we are happy to say, the scholarship programme is adding great value to our community,” Fadiran noted.
