Troops rescue six abducted female varsity students in Zamfara
by The Eagle Online · The Eagle OnlineTroops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued seven kidnapped victims, including six female students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), during an operation along the Daye–Malumfashi road in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Acting Deputy Director Information, Army Public Relations of the 8; Division, Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba.
Osoba confirmed that the victims were rescued on Monday evening when troops responded to a distress call reporting an attack on a commercial vehicle travelling from Kaduna to Katsina.
The statement said the troops swiftly moved to the scene following the distress call, forcing the attackers to abandon their captives and flee.
Osoba further said the rescued victims comprised six female students of FUDMA and a male commercial driver.
According to the statement, all seven victims were rescued unhurt and subsequently subjected to preliminary security profiling and medical evaluation.

The victims were later handed over to designated officials for onward reunion with their families and the relevant school authorities.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to prevent kidnapping and other criminal activities along major roads and communities in the North-West.
