‎The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has disclosed that he is determined to continue turning around the fortunes of the state until Benue regains its true position amongst states in the country.

‎He said he is aware that a reformer must face all forms of attacks, insults and deliberate efforts to deter, so he is ready to take all the insults and face gang ups but would not be deterred.

‎The Governor stated this on Saturday at Government House Makurdi, after receiving the All Progress Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms bought for him by the Benue State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), led by their chairman, Michael Vembe and Benue Motorcycle Association (BEMOA) led by their State President, Comrade Terfa Aha to contest for the 2027 governorship elections.

‎The Governor also announced plans for the revitalization of the Taraku Mills, describing the company as a critical component of his administration’s economic strategy, noting that the move is aimed at restoring industrial activity, creating employment opportunities, and strengthening the state’s agro-based economy.

‎He disclosed further that the initiative forms part of broader efforts to reposition Benue State for sustainable growth, emphasizing that his government remains committed to policies that directly impact the lives of the mass majority of the citizenry.

‎Receiving the Expression of Interest and Nomination, Governor Alia expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in his leadership, assuring that his administration would continue to prioritize the welfare of citizens through purposeful governance and people-oriented projects.

‎The Governor highlighted key achievements of his administration, particularly in the areas of prompt payment of salaries and pensions, expansion of road infrastructure, and improvements in the health and education sectors, noting that these milestones reflect a deliberate commitment to responsible governance and inclusive development.

‎Reaffirming his administration’s resolve, the Governor stated that more developmental initiatives are underway, aimed at consolidating existing gains and expanding economic opportunities across the state.

‎He also acknowledged the support of President Bola Tinubu, particularly in enhancing the security of lives and property, which he described as essential to the successful implementation of government policies and programmes in the state.

‎While reiterating his commitment to serving the people of Benue State and assuring that his administration would remain focused on delivering tangible results that improve livelihoods and drive long-term development, the Governor also announced that, he has written to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, for a meeting of the entire Benue APC family to blend and seek for a final resolve so as to go into the 2027 general elections with a united front.

‎Earlier in their separate remarks, the leaders of the two groups cited regular payment of pensions, gratuities and salaries, which they said, was hitherto not the case, construction of rural and township roads, provision of solar lights to enhance security at night amongst others, as the reasons the Governor must continue for a second term.
