Ekiti 2026: 12 governors arrive to back Oyebanji + Video

No fewer than 12 governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have arrived in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, to back their colleague, Biodun Oyebanji, as he seeks re-election on Saturday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed June 20, 2026 for the Ekiti State governorship election.

Oyebanji, the candidate of the APC for the poll, has been credited with high performance in his almost four years in office.

Among those who were in Ekiti as at press time were Governors of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi; ⁠Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu; ⁠Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; ⁠Edo State, Monday Okpebholo; T⁠Governor of Taraba State, Agbo Kefas; and neighbouring ⁠Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Others are the Governors of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma; ⁠Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori; ⁠Borno State, Babagana Zulum; ⁠Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq; ⁠Kogi State, Usman Ododo; and Kaduna State, Uba Sani.

According to available information, the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Hon. Ibrahim Masari, had also arrived in Ado-Ekiti as at press time.
