Indecent AI Images of Schoolgirls Spark Student Protest
by Kosta Papadopoulos · Greek City TimesStudents at Hortiatis Junior High School, near Thessaloniki, created and circulated AI-manipulated fake photographs containing obscene material depicting five female classmates, prompting a student protest demanding tougher disciplinary action against those responsible.
The photographs were deleted as soon as the digital harassment incident came to light. The school’s teachers’ council imposed three-day and five-day suspensions on the students who created the images.
However, other students at the school demanded stricter penalties for those responsible for the digital attack and staged a sit-in on Wednesday. They also issued a resolution expressing their solidarity with the five girls.
The incident has raised concerns among education authorities about the protection of children from digital harassment.

“The incident at a school in our area concerns us and reminds us in the clearest possible way that protecting children in both the physical and digital environments is an absolute priority,” Central Macedonia Regional Director of Education Alexandros Koptsis told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (AMNA).
Koptsis said education authorities immediately mobilised the relevant teaching and administrative services in cooperation with the school’s management to address the incident responsibly, discreetly and with full respect for the students’ privacy and dignity.
He added that the regional education directorate had issued the necessary instructions to investigate the incident promptly and protect the children. A psychologist will also visit the school on Thursday to provide support and assistance.
“The school must be a place of trust, respect and safety. Protecting the dignity, personality and rights of every student is an absolute priority for us,” Koptsis said.
He stressed that only the school’s teachers’ council has the authority to impose disciplinary penalties on students.
Koptsis also praised the initiative taken by the school’s students, who issued a resolution expressing their support for the five girls.
