Mazonakis Death: Plasmapheresis Machine Reportedly Recorded the Exact Moment His Heart Stopped

New evidence in the investigation into Giorgos Mazonakis’ death reportedly indicates that his heart stopped while he was still connected to a plasmapheresis machine at a clinic in Athens.

Data recovered from the plasmapheresis machine used during Giorgos Mazonakis’ treatment may provide investigators with an exact timeline of the singer’s final moments.

According to information reported by Proto Thema, the machine recorded data indicating when Mazonakis’ vital functions ceased while he was undergoing treatment at the Kolonaki clinic on September 10.

Investigators have reportedly identified a discrepancy of approximately 30 minutes between some of the machine’s recorded times and the times initially documented in the investigation.

According to the latest findings, the machine began operating at approximately 2:37pm, rather than 2:12pm as initially indicated by photographic evidence.

At approximately 3:15pm, the machine reportedly issued two or three alarms. The alerts are being examined as a possible indication that something had gone wrong with the patient.

The machine then reportedly stopped operating between 3:23pm and 3:27pm, with its data indicating that Mazonakis was no longer displaying vital functions.

Doctor Elias Theodoropoulos was reportedly still at the clinic at that time.

The machine data has become a potentially significant part of the investigation because it could help establish the precise sequence of events before Mazonakis was transferred to hospital.

Questions over the emergency call

According to the report, investigators are also examining a gap of approximately 40 minutes between the point at which the machine stopped recording vital functions and the call to Greece’s emergency medical service, EKAB.

The emergency call was reportedly made after 4pm, with the doctors informing authorities that one of their patients had suffered cardiac arrest.

The timing is expected to form part of the broader investigation into what happened inside the clinic during the critical period.

Doctors appear before authorities

Doctors Elias Theodoropoulos and Ioanna Gaka were brought before the courts at Evelpidon on Monday to provide statements in connection with Mazonakis’ death.

The two doctors currently face allegations relating to fatal exposure.

However, prosecutors are also reportedly examining whether the case could be upgraded to homicide with possible intent, although no such additional prosecution had been initiated at the time of the report.

The investigator is reportedly awaiting further digital evidence from the Hellenic Police before completing the case file.

A photograph recovered from Gaka’s mobile phone, reportedly taken at approximately 2:45pm, is also being examined by investigators. According to the report, authorities are considering whether the image may have been taken for promotional purposes for the clinic.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the reported machine data, telephone records, photographs and emergency response timeline are expected to be assessed together before authorities reach conclusions about the circumstances surrounding Mazonakis’ death.
