Criminal Lawyer Found Dead as Police Suspect Homicide

Prominent Greek criminal defence lawyer Stavros Georgiou was found dead in his office in central Athens on Tuesday night, with police investigating the possibility of a criminal act.

According to police sources, Georgiou’s daughters discovered his body at his law office on 158 3rd September Street (G’ Septemvriou) before alerting authorities.

Police and forensic officers rushed to the scene after the discovery. Investigators said the lawyer was found in a foetal position, and preliminary evidence indicates the death may have resulted from criminal activity.

Authorities reported that the office showed no obvious signs of disturbance, suggesting there may not have been a struggle.

Police believe Georgiou may have been dead for several hours before he was discovered, possibly since Tuesday morning or even the previous night.

A forensic pathologist is expected to examine the body before it is moved. Investigators will determine whether Georgiou sustained any injuries and establish the cause of death.

Police said dried blood was found around the body, with the high temperatures believed to have accelerated the drying process.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not announced any arrests or identified any suspects.
