Greece will hold the sixth session of its National Dialogue on the design of the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) for 2028-2034 on Saturday, October 31, in Naxos, with discussions focusing on the negotiating framework, key challenges for the country and the needs of island communities.

The Ministry of Rural Development and Food will organise the meeting at Naxos Town Hall at 5pm, with particular emphasis on the challenges facing the primary sector in Greece’s island regions.

The meeting forms part of the national consultation process ahead of the new CAP programming period and will allow stakeholders to submit views and proposals for the policy’s future direction.

Island-specific issues will feature prominently, with representatives from local government, agricultural cooperatives, universities and regional development organisations taking part.

The Secretary-General for EU Funds and Infrastructure, A. Zerva, will outline the challenges facing the national consultation process as Greece prepares its position on the new policy.

A thematic panel discussion, titled The New CAP 2028-2034 and the Challenges of Island Communities, will follow.
