Aleksandar Vucic acknowledged his party’s loss in Sunday’s early parliamentary elections, with the Student List emerging as the winner according to initial estimates.

Vucic Concedes Defeat as Student List Wins Serbia Vote

“It is clear that we lost these elections. The Student List won,” Vucic said. He projected the Student List would take 135–140 seats, enough for a majority, while his party would secure around 105. Final results are still pending.

The vote followed nearly two years of student protests against corruption, triggered by the 2024 Novi Sad station collapse that killed 16. Vucic had resigned as president in September to seek the premiership, but the projected Student List majority blocks that plan. Presidential elections must be held by the end of December; Vucic cannot run for a third term.
