An EKAB (Ambulance) report documenting the emergency response to Giorgos Mazonakis at a medical clinic in Kolonaki has raised further questions about what happened in the final stages before the singer was taken to hospital.

According to a report by ALPHA, the official ambulance document states that the doctors at the scene refused to provide information about the patient to the emergency crew.

The document was prepared by EKAB rescuers who responded to the medical office on Karneadou Street on September 9, where Mazonakis had been undergoing a plasmapheresis procedure.

The report states: “The doctors at the scene refused to provide information about the patient.”

According to the same reporting, the rescuers were allegedly not given basic information about the patient, including his identity, despite responding to an emergency call concerning the person being treated at the clinic.

EKAB report describes patient as having no vital signs

The document also records the condition in which rescuers found Mazonakis when they arrived.

It states that he was “found without vital signs” and records that CPR was being performed at the scene, while adrenaline was administered.

The report also indicates that the doctor at the scene established intravenous access and administered adrenaline.

Crucially, the EKAB crew also marked the section indicating that the patient was not breathing.

The details are now part of the wider judicial investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mazonakis’ death.

Doctors Ioanna Gaka and Ilias Theodoropoulos were remanded in custody following lengthy questioning by the investigating authorities. They face charges of intentional homicide with possible intent by omission, which they deny.

Questions over the critical minutes

The EKAB document adds another element to an investigation focused heavily on the period between the end of the plasmapheresis procedure and the emergency call.

Previous reports have identified the EKAB call as taking place at approximately 4:21pm, while digital evidence concerning the plasmapheresis machine has placed its operation earlier in the afternoon. Authorities are examining what happened during the intervening period and when the decision was made to seek emergency assistance.

The circumstances surrounding Mazonakis’ treatment, the response to his medical emergency and the actions of those present remain under judicial investigation.
