82-Year-Old Man Dies After Fight Over Sunbed at Vouliagmeni Beach

An 82-year-old man has died after a violent confrontation over a sunbed at Vouliagmeni Beach in Athens on Sunday morning.

The incident happened shortly before 10am when the elderly man reportedly became involved in an argument with a 76-year-old man over a sunbed.

According to reports, the verbal dispute escalated into a physical confrontation.

Police said the 82-year-old was allegedly beaten by the 76-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman who was with him.

Greek Police officers were called to the beach and arrested both the 76-year-old man and the 21-year-old woman.

The 82-year-old was taken by ambulance to Asklepieion Hospital in Voula, where doctors attempted to treat his serious injuries.

He later died in hospital.

The two people arrested are being held at the Vari, Voula and Vouliagmeni Police Department while authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The manager of the beach business was also taken to the police station to provide information about what happened and the events leading up to the confrontation.

The investigation remains ongoing, while authorities are expected to examine witness statements and other evidence from the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the man’s death will now be investigated by the relevant authorities.
