Erdogan Blasts Israel’s ‘War-Driven’ Government for Fueling Regional Instability and Global Energy Shock

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has sharply criticised Israel’s government, accusing it of driving the region toward deeper instability through provocations and orchestrated actions while contributing to one of the largest shocks to global oil supply in history.

Speaking after a Cabinet meeting in Ankara on 29 July 2026, Erdoğan said: “Israel’s current war-driven government continues to push our region toward instability through its provocations and orchestrated actions.”

He accused Israel of disregarding fundamental human rights and international law while gradually occupying Palestinian territories. Erdoğan described occupation, illegal settlements, and policies of displacement, intimidation and oppression against Palestinians in the West Bank — “just as it has done in Gaza” — as the primary source of the region’s problems.

“The cost of this aggression is being borne not only by our Palestinian brothers and sisters, and not only by the brotherly people of Lebanon, but also by people of different faiths and by the region as a whole,” he stated.

Erdoğan linked the ongoing conflicts to major disruptions in global energy markets. He noted that the disputes have triggered one of the largest shocks to global oil supply on record, with rapid price increases also hitting natural gas, fertilizers, diesel fuel and petrochemical products.

The remarks come amid continued tensions in the Middle East and follow reports of further Israeli settlement expansion activity in the occupied West Bank.
