Three people were reportedly attacked by two German shepherds in Vari on Thursday morning, with the dogs allegedly belonging to a relative of Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Greek authorities are investigating after two dogs reportedly attacked three people in Vari, south of Athens, in an incident that has raised concerns among local authorities and police.

According to Greek media reports, the attack took place on Thursday morning, September 17, when the two German shepherds escaped and approached people in the area.

One of the alleged victims, Tina Kasidokosta, described the attack and said she was seriously bitten on the hand.

Kasidokosta said she received a phone call from her uncle, who lives in Vari, telling her that he had been attacked by two dogs.

She then went to the area to check on him.

As she was walking along the road, she said she saw the two dogs at some distance.

“When one of them saw me, it started running towards me,” Kasidokosta said. “It came up to me and grabbed my hand. Then the second one came over.”

She said she tried to remain still in an attempt to avoid provoking the animals, but the dogs knocked her to the ground.

According to her account, a municipal official responsible for stray animals arrived and took her to the Vari Health Centre, where she received medical treatment.

“They bit me badly on the hand,” she said.

Kasidokosta also claimed that the dogs attacked three people in total.

“They bit me, my uncle and another woman who, from what I heard, was taken to KAT Hospital,” she said, adding that she had filed a police complaint.

Previous dog attack allegations

The latest incident comes amid reports of previous attacks involving dogs allegedly belonging to members of the Tsitsipas family.

In May 2025, a dog reportedly belonging to the family allegedly attacked a 71 year old man in Vouliagmeni. The man was taken to hospital and required stitches following the incident.

Another incident was reported in 2023, when a dog allegedly jumped over the fence of a family property in Vouliagmeni and attacked a 13 year old boy.

The teenager was reportedly taken to hospital after suffering bites to his hands and legs.

The circumstances surrounding Thursday’s incident, including how the dogs came to be outside and who was responsible for them at the time, remain under investigation.

No conclusion has been established regarding responsibility for the latest attack, and the allegations have not been independently verified.
