Serial accident claims three lives in Kushalnagar

Injured admitted at Mysuru, Madikeri and Mangaluru Hospitals

Kushalnagar: Three persons were killed while seven sustained serious injuries in a serial accident involving a bike, a Swift car and a Bolero goods vehicle on Madikeri-Mysuru National Highway near Anekadu in the taluk yesterday at about 8.45 pm.

The deceased have been identified as two-wheeler rider and a Watcher in the Forest Department Kumar (42), Ratan Unni and Adarsh, both residents of 7th Hosakote. Those injured are Suvin, Nishanth, Akhil, Chandrashekar and Ajay, who have been admitted at hospitals in Mysuru and Madikeri. Occupants of the Bolero vehicle Madhu and his son Nivedh, also sustained injuries and have been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

It is learnt that the driver of the Swift car (KA-53-Z-6665), who was proceeding from Kushalnagar towards Madikeri, while attempting to overtake the Hero Honda Splendor bike (KA-12-Y-4482) rammed into the Bolero goods vehicle (KL-60-W-0181) which was coming in the opposite direction.

The impact of the collision was such that all the three vehicles were badly damaged and Watcher Kumar and Ratan Unni died on the spot while Adarsh breathed his last while he was being shifted to a hospital.

Police, who rushed to the spot, shifted the injured to a Hospital in Kushalnagar in the Department vehicles and later shifted them to hospitals in Mysuru and Madikeri, thus displaying humanitarian concern.

Kodagu SP R.N. Bindu Mani, Dy.SP Chandrashekar, Circle Inspector B.R. Pradeep, SI Geetha, Srinivas and staff visited the spot. A case has been registered at Kushalnagar Police Station.
