Curb middlemen, ensure transparency at RTO
by Author · Star of MysoreSir,
The growing presence of agents inside the Regional Transport Office (RTO) premises has become a major concern, with many citizens facing harassment and intimidation while seeking vehicle-related services. Several agents are misleading people by exaggerating the complexity of procedures, particularly targeting those unfamiliar with official rules and processes.
There is also a perception among the public that certain officials may be indirectly supporting these agents by allowing them to operate freely within the office premises.
As a result, many unsuspecting citizens are compelled to pay unnecessary charges to agents even for simple tasks.
Though the Government has introduced citizen-friendly measures such as online applications and digital submissions, these systems are yet to be effectively implemented on the ground.
Taking advantage of loopholes and a lack of public awareness, agents continue to exploit citizens visiting RTO offices.
The authorities must take strict measures to remove middlemen from RTO premises and ensure a transparent, efficient and citizen-friendly system that enables people to complete their vehicle-related work without exploitation.
