DC, top cops hold meeting; discuss arrangements as per VIP protocol

PM Modi to inaugurate Viveka Memorial in city on Aug. 1

Mysuru: The District Administration which is making foolproof arrangements in view of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city on Aug. 1, to inaugurate Viveka Memorial – Youth and Cultural Centre on Narayan Shastry road, held a meeting at the memorial yesterday.

Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, Superintendent of Police (SP) Mallikarjun Baladandi, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer S. Ukesh Kumar, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner M.K. Savitha, President of Sri Ramakrishna Ashram Swami Muktidanandaji and Swami Yukteshanandaji, Correspondent of Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala, Mysuru and other officials concerned.

The discussion centred around, making arrangements in compliance with VIP protocol, the team of officers and elected representatives to receive the Prime Minister on his arrival at Mysore Airport in Mandakalli, exclusive facility for the Prime Minister to relax for sometime (secrecy is being maintained about the location for security reasons), security team, health team and other facilities.

Prior to this, Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, accompanied by DCP (Law and Order) Dr. Harsha Priyamvada and DCP (Crime and Traffic) K.S. Sundar Raj and other Police officers, drove on a convoy rehearsal on both the main route and alternative route, by road, to study the time required to travel on the interior roads of the city.

A team of Special Protection Group (SPG) personnel, which forms the elite group of commandos, that protects the Prime Minister in and outside the country, is expected to visit the city on July 30. One team is expected to camp in the city till the arrival of the Prime Minister to monitor the developments, it is said.
