Recognise Kodava Thakk as well: MP Yaduveer Wadiyar

Mysuru: Following the State Government’s decision to recognise Tulu as the second additional official language in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Wadiyar has demanded similar recognition for Kodava Thakk, Arebhashe and other regional dialects.

Speaking to mediapersons, here yesterday, Yaduveer said, “We welcome the State Government’s decision to recognise Tulu as the second additional official language. But, a similar recognition must also be extended to Kodava Thakk and Arebhashe languages of Kodagu region.”

Stating that none of the projects announced by Congress-led Government had been implemented, Yaduveer said the earlier projects announced by  Siddaramaiah-led State Government have only remained as announcements and not implemented.

When asked if the Congress State Government was eyeing to breach BJP’s stronghold in Mangaluru region, the Mysuru-Kodagu MP said there was nothing a like stronghold for any party.

“It is the people who have voted for a party to be at the helm of affairs. BJP has been accepted by the people in Mangaluru region which has emerged as its stronghold. Similarly, Mysuru will also emerge as BJP’s stronghold and will form its own Government in the future,” he added.

Speaking about Kambala being organised during this year’s Dasara, Yaduveer Wadiyar mentioned that the State Government was trying to create a division during Dasara.

“There are people who support Kambala in Mysuru region. We are not against Kambala, but we are against conducting it during Dasara. While, efforts are being made to organise Kambala in Mysuru, they are not supporting the sport in its own land,” added Yaduveer.
