Mysuru swimmer sets New Meet Record in 400 mts individual medley
Mysuru: S. Thanya, a native of Mysuru and a II PUC student of Jain Sports School in Bengaluru, created history by setting a New Meet Record (NMR) and becoming India Best in the 400 mts individual medley at 79th Senior National Aquatic Championship – 2026 held at Ahmedabad recently.
Thanya clinched gold medal with a timing of 4:56.78 sec beating the old timing of 4:59.17 set in 2018. She also won a silver in 200 mts breaststroke (2:38.97 sec) and a bronze in 200 mts individual medley (2:32.22 sec).
She is currently training under Gagan Ullalmath at Jain Sports School in Bengaluru.
Thanya is the daughter of S.P. Shadakshari and N. Shwetha, residents of JP Nagar in Mysuru.
