Kempegowda Circle flyover project

Mysuru: In view of the upcoming Dasara celebrations, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner M.K. Savitha this morning inspected the ongoing National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) flyover/grade-separator project at Kempegowda Circle (Manipal Hospital Junction).

She was accompanied by civic officials and NHAI Liaison Manager S. Suresh, who briefed her about the Rs. 63.67-crore project being taken up at the junction of the Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway (NH-275) and the Outer Ring Road to ease  traffic congestion.

Savitha reviewed the 600- metre stretch from Kempegowda Circle Junction to a hotel, which had earlier been handed over by the MCC to the NHAI.

The inspection revealed that recent construction work, including a pillar erected about 15 days ago, along with excavated earth and mud piles, had significantly narrowed the road. At present, only one bus can narrowly pass at a time towards Bengaluru.

Savitha directed the NHAI to clear all mud piles, debris and footpath obstructions along the stretch by Sept. 30. The NHAI was also directed to install proper barricades around the pillar to secure the construction site and ensure unobstructed movement of traffic.

Savitha also inspected an old, abandoned private building near Rajkumar Park at the corner of Harsha Road. The property, which is involved in a legal dispute, has remained neglected for several years without basic maintenance.

Officials raised concerns over public safety as several fast-food stalls operate underneath the building at night, attracting large crowds.

Savitha instructed officials to trace the owners of the property immediately and direct them to repair and whitewash the structure to make it safe. Alternatively, metal sheet fencing should be installed to prevent public access to the building, she said.
