Dr. Rajkumar bust to be restored at original site

Mysuru: The Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA) has decided to reinstall the original bust of Dr. Rajkumar at its earlier location inside the Dasara Exhibition premises in Mysuru.

A meeting was held yesterday under the leadership of Mysuru District In-charge Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, attended by KEA Chairman Ayub Khan, representatives of Kannada organisations and Dr. Rajkumar Fans’ Associations.

After discussions, it was decided to restore the bust to its original site.

The issue came up after MLC R. Raghu Kautilya, during a recent inspection, objected to the relocation of the bust and the installation of a new one, which he described as “toy-like”. He had demanded that the original  bust be restored and warned of protests if the KEA failed to act.

Following appeals from Dr. Rajkumar fans and cultural organisations across the State, the KEA decided to reinstall the original  bust.

Ayub Khan said the old bust had been preserved and would be placed back at the same location shortly.
