CAIRO – 24 October 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas deliberated efforts to halt the Israeli war against the Palestinian people in Gaza and Israeli violations in the West Bank.

Both leaders underscored the importance of the international community adopting a clear and decisive position regarding these actions to end the humanitarian crisis plaguing the people in Gaza as they met on Wednesday during the BRICS summit held in Kazan, Russia.

Sisi reiterated Egypt's unwavering support for the Palestinian Authority, emphasizing the necessity of unified efforts to safeguard the Palestinian people's resources and their legitimate right to establish their state in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.

He reiterated Egypt's rejection of any endeavors aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause.

Abbas expressed gratitude for Egypt's continuous and dedicated support for the Palestinian people, applauding Egypt's efforts at all levels to champion their just cause.

Since the onset of the Gaza war on October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed 42,792 Palestinians, injured over 100,000 others, ravaged critical infrastructure, and pushed the enclave toward the brink of famine.

In the West Bank, violence perpetrated by Israeli police and settlers has resulted in the deaths of around 760 Palestinians, including 166 children, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health as of Tuesday.

Moreover, more than 11,400 Palestinians in the West Bank have been arrested in ongoing Israeli campaigns, as per Palestinian records.
