Egypt’s FM delivers written message from Sisi to Zardari

CAIRO – 30 November 2025: Acting on the directives of the President, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, met on Sunday, November 30, with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari during his official visit to Islamabad.

Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdelatty conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the Pakistani President and delivered a written message addressing ways to further advance bilateral relations. 

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the historical ties with Pakistan, and underlinedwith pride the significant progress witnessed in the relationship. He also highlighted Egypt’s aspiration to develop a joint roadmap to strengthen cooperation by 2026 across political, economic, trade, military, security, religious, and cultural fields.

Minister Abdelatty underscored the importance of expanding cooperation with Pakistan in the economic, trade, and investment sectors, stressing the need to increase the volume of trade in a manner that reflects the vast potential of both countries. 

He reviewed the economic reforms implemented by the Egyptian government in recent years, and emphasized the urgency of activating the joint business council and the joint Egyptian-Pakistani chambers of commerce to revitalize economic, trade, and investment cooperation. The Minister further expressed interest in facilitating trade links between the Suez Canal Economic Zone and Pakistan’s Gwadar Port and exploring the establishment of value-added industries within the zone.

The spokesperson added that the Foreign Minister affirmed his aspiration to continue cooperation with Pakistan within the framework of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, which Egypt assumed the presidency of in December 2024. He noted Egypt’s keenness to explore new opportunities for economic and trade collaboration, attract investments, and enhance cooperation among the group’s member states.

On regional developments, Minister Abdelatty reviewed regional and international issues of mutual concern, foremost among them the situation in the Gaza Strip. He stressed the importance of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2803 on Gaza and moving forward with the second phase of President Trump’s peace plan. He also underscored the need to enable the UN peacekeeping force to carry out its mandate in a manner that consolidates the ceasefire, and reviewed ongoing preparations for the international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza.

For his part, President Zardari asked that his greetings and appreciation be conveyed to President El-Sisi, praising Egypt’s constructive and effective role in supporting security and stability in the Middle East. He affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Egypt in all fields.
