ANA Mofusand Pilot and Flight Attendant Plush Feel Like Display Pieces
by Jenni Lada · SiliconeraBetween July and August 2026, ANA teamed up with the Mofusand brand for some exclusive items like a pair of plush available only in-flight via the Sky Shop. It’s exactly the sort of limited edition, possibly overpriced, last minute souvenir you’d expect. Following a recent trip to Tokyo, I found myself on one of those flights that would offer it on my way back to the US. For research purposes (and to spark joy), I bought the pair. While the Mofusand ANA Original Flight Cat Mascots did seem like a bit of a luxury, the plush pilot and flight attendant duo make for a fun decoration in a home.

So first, getting the Mofusand ANA Original Flight Cats Mascots isn’t necessarily difficult, though I did find it took some time on my flight and a fellow Siliconera member reported being unable to acquire them on their own trip due to the pair selling out. You get two stuffed animals that each stand at about five inches tall (13.5cm) and cost 5,500 yen (~$35) for the pair. While that can be scary at a glance when you see the number on the Sky Shop seatback screen, it isn’t that bad when you consider the price, size, quality, and fact it isn’t one of the many knock-offs that flood the market.
I paid about $17.50 for each one of these exclusive items. If you visit the official Mofusand storefront, it’ll be between $16-17 for a plush of that size that isn’t a limited-time, special edition item. A blind box plush of a Mofusand cat head wearing a fruit hoodie that’s much smaller can go for $8. The Dreams Mofusand Hippers figures that stick on the back of a device can go for $15-20, depending on the storefront’s markup. A larger flocked figure can go for $30-40.

And the quality is there for the Mofusand ANA Original Flight Cat Mascots plush, as both the pilot and flight attendant are both very detailed. Each one has a different fur pattern, with the pilot being a grey tabby and the flight attendant a calico. Each of their paws does feature pink embroidery, and their facial features are stitched on as well. Their outfits are full clothing that is stitched. The lower outfit is not removable. This means the dress and its top are part of the actual plush for the flight attendant, and the white shirt and navy pants are part of the pilot’s body. However, if you move around the blazers on both cats, you’ll find those are separate pieces of clothing stitched on. The tie and scarf on each are also individual pieces sewn onto the cats.
However, this doesn’t mean someone could customize these and remove parts of the outfits for unique costumes. The jackets are sewn in place, for one. The pilot’s right paw is also sewn onto the cat’s face, while both of the flight attendant’s paws are attached to the character’s cheeks. The poses are quite cute! But they’re sort of “locked” in. I’m fine with it and feel the positions suit them. If someone really wanted to and had small enough scissors, I do think it would be possible to make a tiny cut to free them.
There’s only one downside to the Mofusand ANA Original Flight Cat Mascots pilot and flight attendant plush pair, and that’s that I don’t think they’d make good plush pendants. There’s an elastic band affixed to each one’s head. It is stretchy enough that someone could actually loop it onto a purse strap, zipper pull, or carabiner clip. The official site included However, that band doesn’t feel as substantial as, say, the fabric used on the Pop Mart plush pendants for character keychains of mascots like Skullpanda or Labubu. That, combined with the lighter color of their fur that seems susceptible to dirt, means I don’t recommend them as actual travel buddies! Given they’re also limited edition pieces, it seems like you should want to protect them.
If you can manage to get them from the Sky Shop during your international flight, the Mofusand ANA Original Flight Cat Mascots do seem like a fun plush duo that is worth the investment. The two cats do look quite adorable in their pilot and flight attendant uniforms. They feature the same level of detail as other Mofusand plush, with all the embroidery you’d expect. They’re also unique and the sort of souvenirs you don’t see every day. Unfortunately, given their delicate nature, I’d recommend not actually taking them on your travels with you on a backpack or purse due to the fiddly elastic bands on their heads and their delicate nature.
The Mofusand ANA Original Flight Cat Mascots plush pilot and flight attendant duo are available via the airline’s in-flight Sky Shop on international flights through August 2026.
