"At Last, Someone With A Spine!!": The Internet Is Cheering On Rep. Joyce Beatty After She Did NOT Hold Back During Her Call With Trump About The Kennedy Center

The very public battle over the Kennedy Center continues.

This week, a federal judge ruled in Beatty v. Trump that the president cannot add the words "renovated and restored by Donald J. Trump" to the building, or rename the campus to "President Donald J. Trump Plaza" without approval from Congress.

After the ruling, the Kennedy Center board held a virtual phone call. Rep. Joyce Beatty, an ex officio member, went on to MS NOW's "The Weeknight" to discuss the details of the call. Rep. Beatty said that after they started off by discussing her victory in the lawsuit, President Trump "went into a tantrum."

Rep. Beatty continued, "It was the most unprofessional thing that I've ever witnessed or been a part of." When asked by host Symone Sanders, "What did he do?" Rep. Beatty said, "He went into name-calling."

"From everything from trying to say that I was an obstructionist, I was dumb. He said, 'I think you're incompetent,'" Rep. Beatty continued. "I said, 'I know you're incompetent.'" "Wow," host Luke Russert replied.

"And I looked to the chair, who was chairing, and I said, 'Are we really gonna do this? This is unprofessional.' But I was not going to let him call me awful things," Rep. Beatty added.

"He said he was gonna hold me responsible if something fell out of the ceiling and killed someone. And I told him, I said, 'You're already killing people. We're at war.'"

"'We also have people who are starving. You're doing this.' And then he wanted to talk about how great he was with developing, and he didn't know anything about me, but I had never done anything. This was the biggest thing I had done. So I reminded him that he had more bankruptcies than anybody in the room."

"I mean, it really went there," Rep. Beatty continued. Host Eugene Daniels looked shocked as she described the call.

Beatty went on to say, "I was not going to let him bully me, intimidate me, and the facts stand for themselves."

The rest of the segment discussed a vote that the board (sans Rep. Beatty) subsequently made to close The Kennedy Center, and President Trump threatening to block much-needed renovations if appeals don't go his way.

Unsurprisingly, people online have been very supportive of Rep. Beatty's comments. "More backbone than the entire GOP," one person said.

"GAGGED. And rightfully so. She ate Trump up."

"Love Joyce Beatty. She’s a badass!"

"If you have EVER fantasized about what you'd tell trump to his face if you had the chance, Rep. Joyce Beatty just DID that. He thought he was going to call her names. And he found out."

"At last, someone with a spine!! ... He's a playground bully and needs putting in his place!"

Over on Reddit, the praise for Rep. Beatty continued. "Watched her on Kaitlan Collins show last night too and she was incredible! ... What a gem Joyce is," one person shared.

"Joyce Beatty is awesome! She stood up to this incompetent bully for all of us!"

And finally, "The Democrats need to study Joyce Beatty. That's how you deal with Trump."
