Jesse Watters Says Trump Told Him Why He’s Really Building His Ballroom — And It’s Gross
by Elyse Wanshel · BuzzFeedHere’s just hoping that President Donald Trump’s monstrosity of a ballroom becomes the Barack Obama Immigration Center someday.
Over the weekend, Fox News host Jesse Watters regaled the audience at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in Phoenix, Arizona, with a little anecdote about Trump’s massive ego.
Or to be more specific, Watters said the president revealed to him the real reason why he’s building his baroque ballroom.
According to Watters, he was recently dining on — of all things — Mexican food with the president in the White House when Trump asked Watters if he wanted to see the plans for his “big, beautiful ballroom.”
“I said, ‘Sure, let me see it,’” Watters said. “[Trump] rolls the whole thing out. And guys, I don’t know if you know this — the ballroom is huge. Like, I said, ‘Mr. President, the ballroom is four times the size of the White House.’”
Watters continued, “He said, ‘Jesse, it’s a monument. I’m building a monument to myself because no one else will.’”
At this, Watters chuckled while the audience erupted with laughter.
Considering that Trump’s name already adorns dozens of buildings around the world (some of which he doesn’t even own), Watters’ story shouldn’t come as too much of a shock. Especially since Trump also seems keen to steal other people’s monuments and claim them as his own.
Earlier this month, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that the board at the Kennedy Center — who were all selected by Trump — voted “unanimously” to rename the institution to the Trump-Kennedy Center. The Kennedy Center was named in honor of President John F. Kennedy in 1964, months after his November 1963 assassination.
Although Trump’s sycophants may want to revamp the name — possibly as much as they’d like to engrave Trump’s face into Mount Rushmore — changing the name of the performing arts center will likely face a legal battle. The law prohibits this kind of change without congressional approval, NBC News reported.
