Britons want to get closer to the EU — and even Farage’s voters agree – POLITICO

LIVERPOOL, England — Seven out of ten voters want the government to build a closer relationship with the European Union, according to a new POLITICO Poll that shows the extent of support for overhauling the Brexit settlement.

Even among voters who support Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party, a majority — 51% — share the view that the current arrangement with Brussels is too distant. 

The poll comes at a highly sensitive moment for the U.K.’s governing Labour Party, with Prime Minister Andy Burnham facing demands from some senior colleagues to reverse Brexit and rejoin the EU.
