High-risk sex offender facing new charges, says VPD

A high-risk sex offender, about whom the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) issued a warning in November, is facing new charges.

On Nov. 17, 2025, police announced 60-year-old Shaun Deacon was now residing in the city as he was serving a long-term supervision order for possession and accessing of child pornography. He was bound by several court conditions, including not being anywhere children are present and not using any technology that can access the internet.

Deacon breached his release conditions, and he was arrested on Christmas Day on a Canada-wide warrant.

On March 18, the B.C. Prosecution Service approved new charges following an investigation by the VPD’s High Risk Offender Unit.

Deacon is now facing charges relating to breach of a long-term supervision order, breach of a 161 order of prohibition, and mischief under $5,000.

He remains in custody.
