Worker injured on site of Richmond condo fire restoration

by · CityNews

One person was seriously injured Monday while working on a Richmond condo building that was badly damaged in a fire earlier this month.

WorkSafeBC says the incident occurred at Fraser Place, a condo building in the Stevenston area of the city, where a massive fire displaced several people and sent two to the hospital on Dec. 3.

Richmond Fire-Rescue needed nearly all units to contain the blaze. Approximately 18 units were damaged.

On Monday, BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) reported to the scene on 7th Avenue near Georgia Street shortly after 9:50 a.m.

“Paramedics provided emergency medical care to one patient who was transported in serious but stable condition to the hospital,” BCEHS spokesperson Brian Twaites said.

WorkSafeBC says that one officer from the government agency attended the scene.

On Side, a restoration service provider currently doing work at the site also confirmed the incident.

Details are limited, but an On Side spokesperson said a subcontractor was involved.
