The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is asking the public to contact its office if they witnessed an arrest on April 5 in South Vancouver.

The IIO says that officers arrested a man around 8:40 p.m. at a residence on Fremlin Street near the intersection of West 71st Avenue.

“Officers, including a Police Service Dog, arrived and located a man outside,” the IIO said.

According to police reports, the person arrested sustained injuries during the interaction and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

“The IIO was notified shortly after the incident and has begun an investigation,” the police watchdog added.

IIO is called to a scene if a police action causes an injury that meets the threshold of serious harm or a death.

Their office can be reached at 1-855-446-8477 or via the contact form on the iiobc.ca website.
