Together with first responders from the Township of Langley Fire Department and BC Ambulance Services, officers located two bodies inside a residence.
According to authorities, the deceased are an 18-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man.
IHIT was called to the scene and launched an investigation into the incident with support from the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) and the BC Coroners Service.
Sgt. Freda Fong says that the investigation included canvassing the neighbourhood and interviewing several witnesses.
“As a result, a suspect was identified and arrested on May 3, 2026, in relation to the murders,” she told 1130 NewsRadio.
33-year-old Cregg Lafferty-Tuccaro from Alberta is now charged with two counts of second-degree murder.
“He had no prior history in B.C., and we believe this is an isolated incident where the suspects were known to the victims,” Fong explained.
“Mr. Lafferty-Tuccaro is being detained right now and is next scheduled to appear in court on May 11.”
Investigators will not reveal the name of the victims “out of respect for their families’ privacy, and because it is not needed to further the investigation.”
“Our thoughts are with them [victims’ families] as well as the first responders and support workers who responded to this call. Through teamwork and persistence, IHIT investigators gathered the evidence needed to secure charges, which we hope will support the healing of those impacted.”
