After news of Kristi Noem's divorce surfaced, the politician broke her silence. She issued a statement through her attorney, Michael K. Sabers of Rapid City, S.D., which he shared with PEOPLE. Her counsel confirmed the end of Kristi and Bryan's relationship, saying the former DHS Secretary trusted South Carolina's judicial system and hoped for a smooth legal end to their marriage.

Attorney Michael added that it was the only time Kristi was addressing the personal issue and won't make any more public remarks about it henceforth. They probably clarified it to avoid any future fake news claiming Kristi spoke on the issue. The lawyer was quoted by PEOPLE as saying:

"Kristi Noem has filed for the dissolution of her marriage to Bryon Noem. She has great faith in the South Dakota judicial system and will reserve any further comments for the legal process."

While her representative shared her stance, there hasn't been any update from Bryan's side. Dakota News Now reported that Kristi has cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce. Earlier, in July 2026, Kristi Noem's mother, Corinne Arnold, told The Daily Mail that Kristi and Bryon were divorcing, but they didn't file the papers until late September 2026.

Corinne shared that she was upset about her daughter and son-in-law's split; however, she noted that she had no option but to accept it. She said, "I feel bad, sick that they're getting a divorce, but what else can you do?" Soon after, Kristi was removed from her position as the US Secretary of Homeland Security; she was given another role as a special envoy for the Shield of the Americas. This happened before the reports about Bryon's bimbofication details were publicized.

The report also included photos allegedly showing Bryon wearing feminine clothing, such as pink hotpants and tight tops, along with makeshift breast plates or balloons used to give the impression of a bigger upper body. Bryan Noem reportedly paid at least USD 25,000 to various online fetish models over approximately 14 months. He even seemed to have discussed extremely private details, including his wife's affair with a model.

At that time, Kristi Noem's spokesperson stated that she was "devastated" by the report of Bryan's "secret double life" involving crossdressing and online interactions with fetish models. Kristi's representatives told outlets like the New York Post that the Noem family, including their three adult children, was shocked and heartbroken by the report. The spokesperson stated:

"Ms. Noem is devastated. The family was blindsided by this, and they ask for privacy and prayers at the time."
