D4VD found himself in legal trouble when he was arrested as the prime suspect in Celeste Rivas' murder case. Now, after the preliminary hearing, the court has ordered the musician to stand trial, alleging there is enough evidence to move forward. Amid that, speculations started making rounds that Rivas was pregnant at the time of her murder, and now the DA has finally revealed the truth.
Was Celeste Rivas pregnant at the time of her murder?
The buzz around Celeste Rivas being pregnant at the time of her murder began making headlines after an amendment to her death certificate created confusion. According to a report by PEOPLE, an April 2026 addendum had changed the pregnancy section from "no" to "unknown" regarding whether the 14-year-old had been pregnant within the year before her death, creating an intense wave of speculation.
However, in a conversation with the news outlet, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office confirmed that the teen victim was not pregnant at the time of her death. The confirmation was made to the media house on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 (ET), clearing up the lingering question raised by an amendment to Rivas' death certificate earlier this year.
For the unversed, in April 2026, a death certificate claimed that Celeste Rivas was carrying a child when prosecutors say D4VD killed her. However, it has now been clarified that she was not pregnant at the time of her April 2025 killing. The update comes as prosecutors continue building their case against singer David Anthony Burke, professionally known as D4VD.
TMZ had previously reported that the messages between D4VD and Celeste Rivas before her death included repeated discussions about missed periods, ovulation, Plan B, and pregnancy scares. Prosecutors also presented texts that showed Celeste became pregnant and underwent an abortion in January 2024, when she was 13, and D4VD was 18.
These revelations were the basis of the charges against D4VD. For the unversed, the musician is facing murder charges along with charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and unlawful mutilation of human remains. What further made D4VD a key suspect in the murder was an argument that took place a day before Celeste Rivas' death. According to reports, Rivas was threatening to expose D4VD and destroy his career during an explosive argument.
D4VD to stand trial in Celeste Rivas' murder case
According to reports during the preliminary hearing, prosecutors alleged that D4VD had ordered an Uber for Celeste Rivas on that ill-fated day. They claimed that the following night the musician fatally stabbed the 14-year-old at his Hollywood Hills home and later dismembered her body. Her remains were discovered months later inside two bags in his Tesla.
During the hearing, pictures of the same were also shown in court, leaving the victim's parents shattered, while D4VD remained emotionless. A judge ruled Monday, July 27, 2026 (ET) that there is enough evidence for D4VD to stand trial. He is charged with murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains. D4VD has pleaded not guilty.
