Joseph Duggar Is Seen Joking In Prison With Deputy Amid Wife, Kendra's Release, Here's What Happened

Reality star, Joseph Duggar was seen sharing a light-hearted conversation during his legal process while his wife, Kendra, was released from prison on bail.

19 Kids and Counting star, Joseph Duggar was taken into custody over charges involving a minor. Later, his wife's arrest added more trouble for the couple. However, Kendra has now been released from custody, just hours after her arrest on a bond, and a new video of Joseph has surfaced on the internet. However, his contrasting behaviour with his real-life troubles has become a new subject of discussion. 

Joseph Duggar was seen joking during his legal booking process 

According to new reports cited by People, Joseph Duggar was seen in a relaxed, light-hearted mood when he was being taken into custody in Arkansas on March 18, 2026. According to a viral video of Joseph's booking process, he was seen interacting casually with deputies despite serious allegations against him.

In the same video, Joseph was seen smiling and having a light conversation with officers during routine procedures. Subsequently, she was asked to conduct standard checks, especially when he was searched, and his personal belongings were handled. At one point, he was even asked to show the soles of his feet to ensure he was not carrying any prohibited items. Some reports suggested that he even joked with a deputy when asked whether he had been to the detention center before. In his words:

"Not on this side."

The video also showed a moment where Joseph mentioned his brother's past legal issues during the interaction. However, he did not go into detail about the case. Meanwhile, his brother, Josh Duggar, is reportedly serving a prison sentence of 12-year and 7-month sentence in federal prison for receiving and possessing child abuse material involving a minor.

Kendra Duggar was released hours after her arrest 

On the other hand, Kendra Duggar was also taken into prison shortly after Joseph was taken into custody. But unlike him, she was released on the same day. According to jail records from the Washington County Detention Center, she was released at approximately 6:19 p.m. after posting a bond of USD 1,470. For those unaware, Kendra is facing multiple charges, including four counts of second-degree endangerment of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment. However, her release does not mean she has been proven innocent; instead, her case is under investigation. 

Why does Joseph Duggar remain in custody? 

Unlike Kendra Duggar, her husband, Joseph Duggar, is still under police custody. Instead, he is facing more serious allegations. According to reports, he has been charged in connection with an ongoing investigation involving lewd and lascivious conduct with a child. Additionally, he is facing similar legal proceedings in another case in Florida. They are separate charges, so Joseph is currently awaiting further legal action, including potential extradition.Whereas, his cousin, Amy reacted to Joseph's arrest and said:

"I don’t know what’s going on, and our local news is saying that there’s more and there’s been someone else who’s been arrested. I don’t know, I just thought everyone should know there’s more to this story. I don’t know what it is though.”
