Arjun Rampal has finally tied the knot with his long-time partner, Gabriella Demetriades. The news of their wedding made headlines on the evening of August 21, 2026. According to reports, the couple exchanged vows at the Sub-Registrar's office in Mapusa, North Goa district, in the presence of their close friends.

However, as Arjun Rampal says yes to forever with Gabriella Demetraiades, fans have grown curious about his previous marriage to Mehr Jesia. Amid the buzz, let's take a look at his marriage to Mehr and what led to their separation.

Arjun Rampal was married to Mehr Jesia before tying the knot with Gabriella Demetriades

Before saying 'I do' to Gabriella Demetriades, Arjun Rampal was married to Mehr Jesia, an Indian model and the winner of the Femina Miss India Universe 1986 title. She was one of India's first-generation supermodels and worked as a top model during the peak of Indian fashion in the 1980s and 1990s. 

Mehr Jesia met Arjun Rampal during the actor's early modelling days and got married in 1998 when Arjun was just 24 years old. Despite their two-year age gap, with Mehr being 28 at the time of their marriage, the two found comfort and love with each other. They soon welcomed two daughters, with Mahikaa born in 2002 and Myra born in 2005.

However, their marital bliss was short-lived, after two decades of marriage, Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jesia announced their separation in a joint statement on July 25, 2018. The news of their separation created massive headlines at the time. And now, with Arjun tying the knot again, their divorce is once again in the headlines.

Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jesia's marriage began to crumble long before their separation

Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jesia announced their separation in July 2018. However, they had parted ways six months before the announcement, after growing apart for some time. The word on the street was that the couple's relationship was falling apart long before they decided that their differences were irreconcilable. And it was in March 2018 that Arjun packed his bags and moved out of their sea-facing duplex to a rented apartment.

According to a Mumbai Mirror report, Arjun and Mehr took so long to go public with their divorce because they were waiting for their daughters, Myra and Mahikaa, to come to terms with the separation before announcing it. The report stated that cracks in their marriage had begun to appear as early as 2011, when they had a falling out with Shah Rukh Khan.

A close source to the couple revealed that Arjun sent feelers to Shah Rukh, expressing his desire to be part of Ra.One. However, Mehr wrote to King Khan himself asking for higher remuneration. The source said:

"But Mehr allegedly insisted on a higher remuneration for her husband from co-producer SRK himself, who swore to never work with Arjun in the future. The two subsequently had a public falling out during the film's release. After that, Shah Rukh stopped taking Mehr's calls. His wife, Gauri Khan, who had been close friends with Mehr, severed ties with her as well."

However, that was not the end of it. Arjun Rampal also managed to rub Karan Johar the wrong way when he gave his nod to We Are Family and then hiked his fee at the last minute. Karan was miffed and reportedly vowed never to work with Arjun again.

Arjun Rampal found solace in Sussanne Khan after being cut off from Bollywood's inner circle

As a result of these incidents, Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jesia were dropped from Bollywood's elite circle. Snubbed by his friends from the industry, he found solace in Sussanne Khan. Close friends of the actor told the publication that Arjun had been smitten with her for a long time. An insider recalled a nasty showdown between the two women at Fardeen Khan's party and said:

"When his equations with many industry friends were worsening, his friendship with Sussanne only strengthened over time, and Mehr grew extremely insecure. It led to several fights between the couple. Mehr and Sussanne yelled at one another before Mehr stormed out of the party. The two have not spoken to each other since."

Things further got complicated when Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan announced their split, and fingers were pointed at Arjun Rampal for messing up their relationship. However, Arjun vociferously denied having anything to do with the crumbling of Hrithik and Sussanne's marriage. While Arjun issued a statement saying that "Mehr and I wish them only peace and love through these times and support them as friends should", Sussanne was also displeased with the rumours.

Irked by the "malicious" rumours of her affair with Arjun, she clarified in a statement in November 2014, "Arjun and I are anything more than friends." The rumours soon died down, but despite Mehr's attempt to save the marriage, things continued to worsen between them. While they reconciled a couple of times, their alleged fight in late 2016 came as the final nail in the coffin.

In late 2016, the couple had a nasty spat that led Arjun to walk out of their home for the first time. A filmmaker close to the couple recalled what happened and said:

"They were fighting so loudly and throwing things at each other that the neighbours threatened to complain to the police, as it wasn't the first fight of its kind. Mehr apologised profusely to them, and immediately after that, Arjun moved into a five-star service apartment for a week."

Arjun Rampal finally spoke about what happened during his appearance on the Cancelled to Crown YouTube channel in June 2026. He revealed that his marriage to his ex-wife, Mehr Jesia, wasn't working out. He accepted that he thinks love is not constant. He called it the darkest phase of his life.
