Newly Appointed NSC Chairman Meets SGF, Former Sports Minister [Photos]

The newly appointed National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman, Shehu Dikko, has met with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, and former Minister of Sports Development, John Owan Enoh.

Naija News reports that the meeting which was held on Friday was made known in a post on X by Dikko.

He wrote: “Preparations for take-off underway !!! Successful meeting with @SGFAkume and @OwanEnoh ….. the support is massive!!!”

Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had on Wednesday dissolved the Ministry of Sports Development and moved its responsibilities to the National Sports Commission. The President announced the appointment of Dikko, a former Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), as its Chairman.

Dikko’s meeting with Akume and Enoh is part of early efforts to establish a robust framework aimed at transforming Nigeria’s sports landscape into a sustainable sports economy.

Dikko is laying the foundation for the NSC with a mission to elevate Nigeria’s sports industry to meet global standards.

Emphasizing the importance of collective support, Dikko encouraged all stakeholders to rally behind the NSC’s mandate. This new direction is expected to boost professionalism, create economic opportunities, and enhance sports infrastructure and development across the country.
