Only Electoral Bandits, Not Tinubu Boast Of Rigging Election – Gov. Adeleke

by · Naija News

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has declared that President Bola Tinubu is not part of those using federal might against political opponents.

According to him, President Tinubu is using federal might to deliver good governance to Nigerians.

He described those who boast of using federal might to rig elections as electoral bandits.

Naija News reports that the Governor made the submission in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

He, however, criticized the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for allegedly issuing threats to deploy “federal might” to influence the upcoming governorship election in the state.

Rasheed quoted the Governor to have made the submission while speaking at a meeting with leaders and ward officials of the Accord Party across the 332 wards in the state.

Governor Adeleke warned that federal power should be used for good governance rather than electoral manipulation.

“The President is using federal power to deliver good governance… not for election rigging,” the governor said, urging the opposition to stop what he described as attempts to undermine democratic principles ahead of the election.

He called on all stakeholders to support free and fair elections, submitting that the votes of the people must be made to count.

“Our people are passionate about free and fair elections. Only electoral bandits boast of rigging in a democracy,” he said.

Naija News understands that several political leaders in the state, who were present at the meeting, declared their support for the Governor’s re-election bid.

Among those present were the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuf, and Senator Olu Alabi.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the 2026 Osun governorship election to be held on August 15.
