The spokesperson for the Niger State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), DSC Ibrahim Rabiu Muti, has been reportedly attacked by suspected criminals.

Reports obtained by Naija News revealed that the hoodlums assaulted the security officer while he was travelling in a tricycle in the Gbeganu area of Minna, the state capital.

According to the information gathered, the incident occurred around 8 PM last Friday as Muti was returning home from work.

Daily Post quoted sources to have disclosed that the spokesperson for the state NSCDC sustained two stab wounds to his abdomen.

In confirming the attack, DSC Muti stated that approximately nine assailants attacked him after two individuals, who emerged from a nearby bush, flagged down the tricycle he was in, pretending to be passengers.

“They stabbed me with a knife and took away my phone and other valuables. They were armed with knives, cutlasses, daggers and sticks. However, during their search, one of the hoodlums noticed my uniform trousers and quickly told his colleagues that I was a soldier and they abandoned me with injuries.

” In fact, it was my uniform trousers that saved me. Other passengers had already alighted from the tricycle. I was the only one remaining with the motorcycle rider when the incident occurred,” Muti shared.

Naija News understands that the assaulted officer has been discharged from the hospital and is responding to treatment in his home.
