Cabinet Reshuffle: President Tinubu Scraps Niger Delta Ministry And Ministry Of Sports Development

President Bola Tinubu has scrapped the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development.

The approval was given on Wednesday during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, as confirmed by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

He added that there will now be a Ministry of Regional Development to oversee all the regional development commissions, such as the Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, and North East Development Commission.

The National Sports Commission will take over the role of the Ministry of Sports.

The FEC also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday officially swore in the Code of Conduct Bureau Chairman, Abdullahi Bello Musa.

The President swore in the new Code of Conduct Bureau Chairman during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja.

Speaking after his swearing-in, the CCB chairman told newsmen that he is ready fo the task ahead and promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.

He said, “I want to thank Mr. President for appointing me to this position. Really happy, and I want to assure Mr. President and the people of Nigeria, I will do my best to make sure that I deal with this huge task that is ahead of me.

“Like you mentioned, the Code of Conduct Bureau is the foremost anti-corruption agency, the first anti-corruption agency in Nigeria and I intend to deliver on the mandates of the Bureau. It’s all about making sure that people, public servants, behave with integrity, avoid corruption, no conflict of interests.

“So that is the aim of it; integrity, accountability, those are the duties that I need to deliver on. I promise Nigerians that Insha Allah, I’m going to do my best to make sure that I deliver on the mandate of the Bureau.”
