The Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has rewarded Staff Sergeant, Amoke Gunshot Simeon, following the security operation which led to the arrest of notorious Abia-born kidnap kingpin, Obioma Nwankwo, also known as ‘Osisikankwu’, in Aba in 2010.

Naija News recalls that ‘Osisikankwu’ led a notorious kidnapping gang that terrorised Aba and the surrounding areas between 2008 and 2010, before Amoke led an operation that ended his reign.

Amoke, a member of the Nigerian Army, played a key role in tracking and apprehending the gang leader, ‘Osisikankwu’, restoring security to the state.

Governor Otti, during a visit to the soldier at his country home in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Council, pledged to sponsor Amoke for overseas medical treatment to ensure his recovery and return to good health.

Speaking to journalists after Otti’s visit, Amoke detailed his assignment in Abia, explaining that his team’s role was to track kidnappers and criminals to restore peace.

He recalled how ‘Osisikankwu’ even offered him ₦50 million to let him continue his criminal activities, which he refused.

He added that his honesty and commitment to duty had earned him respect and recognition,

He said, “I was on general patrol across Abia State, covering areas from Ngwa High School to Asa, Onicha Ngwa, and Ikot Ekpene. I refused the bribe, and that brought joy to the people of Abia State.

“A good job pays. Today, I am proud and grateful to Governor Otti for remembering me and supporting me.”

Amoke also recounted his ordeal following a motor accident in the North East while still in active duty, which left him with serious injuries to his legs.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Otti for the support and the promise of treatment abroad.

He added, “It was actually an accident while on duty in the North East, and the initial treatment did not help. I am so happy and excited that Governor Otti remembers those who fought for Abia State. His support will motivate other military personnel to serve diligently.”
