Swallow Your Pride, Join Hands With Wike – Lamido To PDP Stakeholders
by Justina Otio · Naija NewsFormer governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has urged critical stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to sheathe their swords and support the caretaker structure backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Speaking at his hometown of Namadi in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area during a Ramadan breakfast he organised for PDP members in Jigawa State, Lamido opined that supporting the caretaker committee was the only remaining alternative to save the party from total collapse.
He described the committee as the only surviving legitimate structure in the party.
According to him, the Ibadan PDP National Convention, organised by some party governors, was done with ulterior motives, and that sinister agenda had landed the party in more trouble rather than moving it forward.
He said, “Though some of us have not been happy with the way Wike has been behaving in the party, as a matter of legal facts, it is only his backed caretaker committee that stands as the remaining legitimate body in the PDP.
“In view of that, we need to accept the reality and join hands with him to support the caretaker committee to facilitate reconciliation that will pave the way for national conversation.
“Today, PDP is in a critical condition that requires all our collective sacrifices to rescue it. We must swallow our pride and embrace the spirit of unity and forgiveness in doing the job.
“We are all guilty of what is happening in the party today, because of our enthusiasm to restore the lost glory of the party, everyone insisted on their own stand on the best way to go for the rescue job.
“The PDP glorified all of us; it gave us an opportunity we rode on and became what we became today. Therefore, there is no moral justification for us to fold our arms and allow the party to die because of the selfish interests of a few people.
“As a matter of utmost urgency, we must join hands and reconcile ourselves; otherwise, the PDP would not have a chance to participate in the forthcoming 2027 general election.”
