Two Dead After Sand Pit Collapse in Shan State
· Eleven Media Group Co., LtdThree men digging for sand were trapped when a sand pit collapsed in the Danu Self-Administered Zone of Shan State, leaving two dead, according to the Myanmar Fire Services Department.
The incident occurred at around 11:30 a.m. on May 17 near Yagyi Village in Ywangan Township, where a sand pit suddenly caved in and trapped three male workers who were extracting sand.
Rescue teams from the Ywangan Township fire station were dispatched to the scene to conduct search and rescue operations after receiving reports of the collapse.
Authorities said the bodies of the two deceased men were transported to Myaing Village Station Hospital by a vehicle from the Myanmar Social Rescue Organization, while the injured survivor was taken to PindayaPeople’s Hospital in a vehicle owned by Yagyi Monastery.
