Myanmar Commander-in-Chief Meets Indian Navy Chief to boost Bilateral Military Cooperation

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services  General Ye Win Oo received a delegation led by Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi this evening (May 4) at the Zeyathiri Beikman Guest Hall in Nay Pyi Taw, according to reports.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to boost friendly relations and expand cooperation between the two countries and their armed forces. They reviewed the strengthening of ties through reciprocal visits by national and military leaders, as well as the continued exchange of goodwill visits at different levels between the two militaries.

Discussions also covered plans for mutual visits by cultural and sports delegations, maritime trade matters, the exchange of trainees, and cooperation in joint naval exercises aimed at enhancing operational capabilities. In addition, both sides addressed issues related to border security and stability, and the promotion of peace and cooperation in border areas.

They further discussed Myanmar’s efforts to hold a free and fair election and to form a government representing the people. Emphasis was placed on continuing to follow the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence in relations with neighboring countries and working together to promote regional interests in a balanced manner.

The meeting was attended by Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung, Joint Chief of Staff (Army, Navy, Air) Lt- General Ko Ko Oo, and senior military officials from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief. The Indian delegation included Indian Ambassador to Myanmar  Mr. Abhay Thakur, Defence Attaché (Army) Colonel Jaswinder Singh Gill, Defence Attaché (Navy) Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey, and other officials.
