Myanmar Establishes National Solidarity and Peace-making Working Committee Led by Vice President

The Office of the President issued Order No. 37/2026 on April 11, establishing the National Solidarity and Peace-making Working Committee (NSPWC), chaired by Vice President U Nyo Saw.

The committee was formed to support the effective implementation of the tasks set by the National Solidarity and Peace-making Central Committee. Vice President U Nyo Saw serves as Chairman, with Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services General Kyaw Swar Lin and Lt. Gen. Yar Pyae as Vice Chairmen. Lt. Gen. Min Naing has been appointed Secretary.

Members of the committee include Lt. Gen. Thet Naing Win (retd), Union Ministers U Min Naung, U San Oo, U Myint Kyaing, and Dr. Soe Win, Chief Ministers from Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Rakhine, Shan, and Mon states, as well as Sagaing, Tanintharyi, and Bago regions. Also included are Commanders of the Northern Command, Northeastern Command, Eastern Central Command, Triangle Command, Southeastern Command, Coastal Command, Western Command, Northwestern Command and Southern Command, deputy ministers from the ministries of Home Affairs, Border Affairs, and Ethnic Affairs, officials from the Ministry of Legal Affairs, the Police Chief, and the deputy head of the Office of the Chief of Military Security Affairs.

The NSPWC is responsible for formulating strategies to implement the policies laid down by the Central Committee and for coordinating with domestic and international stakeholders, including governments, donors, non-governmental organizations, and international bodies, to support national unity and peace-making efforts.

It will also develop strategic processes to ensure broad participation from the State, the Tatmadaw, ethnic organizations and armed groups, civil society, the international community, and experts. In addition, the committee will set processes and timelines for building a democratic federal union by strengthening peace with ethnic armed organizations that have signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), while encouraging non-signatories to join the agreement.
