SSPC Vice Chairman meets Thai military official in Nay Pyi Taw to enhance joint measures

State Security and Peace Commission Vice-Chairman, Defence Services Deputy Commander-in-Chief, and Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win received a delegation led by General Direk Bongkarn, Chief of the Neighbouring Countries Coordination Centre (NCCC) of the Army Operation Centre of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army at Bayintnaung Villa in Nay Pyi Taw on January 22.

They talked about the utmost efforts of the Myanmar government not to re-emerge telecom fraud and online gambling, and to conduct anti-narcotic operations as the national responsibility, and  enhancement of cooperative measures, including the exchange of information between the two countries.

They cordially exchanged views on the enhancement of relations between the two armed forces and further improvement of friendship under the leadership of the chiefs of armed forces of both countries, efforts to further strengthen relations, continuous implementation of agreements between the two countries, and promotion of cooperation. They also emphasized the endeavours of two governments and two armed forces between the two countries to restore peace and stability in border regions in order to ensure bilateral trade and flow of commodities into normalcy, and the need to enforce prevention of illegal trade and unlawful businesses in border regions.

Moreover, they frankly discussed the successful completion of Phases I and II of the 2025 multiparty democratic general election in Myanmar and the preparation to continue the election as Phase III on 25 January.

After the meeting, the SSPC Vice-Chairman and the Chief of NCCC of the Office of Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army exchanged gifts and had documentary photos taken together with the attendees to the meeting.

Also, present at the meeting were Lt-Gen Nyunt Win Swe from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and senior Tatmadaw officers. The Chief of NCCC of the Office of Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army was accompanied by Military Attache Senior Colonel Pongphan Puttha of the Royal Thai Army to Myanmar, and officials from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army and the NCCC.
