President Office revokes military representative’s membership in local administration committees
by EMG · Eleven Media Group Co., LtdThe President Office issued instructions on April 29 to amend the District and Township Administration Directives, which eliminate the participation of a military representative as a member in the District and Township Administration and Management Committees.
The President Office issued the instruction amending the District Administration Directive by Instruction No. 1/2026, which was issued by the State Administration Council by Instruction No. 3/2025 dated July 30, 2025, replacing Article 11 of the District Administration Directive 3/2025.
According to the amendment, only the military representative will not be included in the District Administration and Management Committee, and the remaining members will continue to be included.
In the amendment to Article 11, the Region or State Government, Nay Pyi Taw Council shall form a District Management and Administration Committee with the approval of the Union Government to implement district administration activities. The District Administrator of the District General Administration Department shall be the Chairman of the District Management and Administration Committee, and the District Police Chief of the Myanmar Police Force shall be the Secretary. The members shall be the District Chief of the Planning Department, the District Law Officer of the District Legal Office, the District Chief of the Ministry of Immigration and Population, and a person assigned by the District Administrator.
Similarly, in amending the Township Administration Directive by the President Office through Directive No. 2/2026, the Office of the President has issued a directive amending the Township Administration Directive issued by the State Administration Council by Directive No. 4/2025 dated July 30, 2025, and it is an amendment to Article 11 of the Township Administration Directive 4/2025.
In amending Article 11, the Region or State Government, and the Nay Pyi Taw Council shall establish a Township Management and Administration Committee with the approval of the Union Government to implement the Township Management and Administration Committee. The Township Administrator of the Township General Administration Department shall be the Chairman of the Township Management and Administration Committee, and the Township Police Chief of the Myanmar Police Force shall be the Secretary. The members shall include the Township Chief of the Planning Department, the Township Legal Officer of the Township Legal Office, the Township Chief of the Ministry of Immigration and Population, and a person assigned by the Township Administrator.
