National Environmental Laboratory Project (Phase 1) launched with Mekong-Lancang Special Fund (2025)

The opening ceremony of the National Environmental Laboratory Project (Phase I), funded by the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2025), was held at the Grand Amara Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on April 24.

Speaking at the event, the Union Minister said the project is being implemented by Myanmar to strengthen environmental protection efforts. It aims to prevent pollution, assess air, water, and soil quality, enhance staff capacity, and generate essential data for setting national environmental quality standards. He stressed the importance of establishing a laboratory capable of conducting systematic, evidence-based analysis to maintain a healthy environment, noting that the project will significantly support effective environmental conservation in the country.

The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U San Oo, Deputy Ministers Dr. Thaung Naing Oo and U Khin Lat Gyi, the Permanent Secretary, officials from the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, representatives of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
