Myanmar Establishes National Solidarity and Peace-making Central Committee Led by President

The Office of the President issued Order No. 36/2026 on April 11, establishing the National Unity and Peace-making Central Committee (NSPCC), chaired by President U Min Aung Hlaing.

The committee was formed to effectively implement national unity and peace-making processes in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. It is led by President U Min Aung Hlaing as Chairman, with Vice President (1) U Nyo Saw serving as Vice Chairman. Lt. Gen. Yar Pyae has been appointed Secretary, while Lt. Gen. Min Naing serves as Joint Secretary and the committee members are Vice President (2) Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye, Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services General Ye Win Oo, Union Minister for the President’s Office U Khin Maung Yi, Union Minister for the President’s Office U Tin Aung San, Union Minister for Transport and Digital Development and Communications U Mya Htun Oo, Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt. Gen. Nyunt Win Swe, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Tin Maung Swe, Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt. Gen. Phone Myat, Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Than Maung, Union Minister for Legal Affairs and Union Attorney General Dr Thida Oo, and Chief  of the General Staff (Army, Navy, Air) Lieutenant General Ko Ko Oo.

The NSPCC is tasked with formulating and guiding policies to advance national unity and peace-making efforts. It will also coordinate with domestic and international stakeholders, including governments, donors, non-governmental organizations, and international bodies, to support these processes. Additionally, the committee aims to facilitate the participation of the State, the Tatmadaw, ethnic organizations and armed groups, civil society, the international community, and experts from various fields.

The committee will further develop policies based on the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) to support the country’s transition toward a democratic federal union. It is also responsible for issuing necessary procedures and instructions and for forming advisory and support groups to ensure the successful implementation of its mandates.
