President U Min Aung Hlaing, Chinese Special Envoy Hold Talks on Boosting Bilateral Cooperation and Border Stability

President U Min Aung Hlaing met with the Chinese President’s Special Representative and discussed cooperation for peace and stability in the border areas between the two countries and the conditions for China’s assistance in the internal peace process.

President U Min Aung Hlaing received a delegation led by H.E. Mr. Jiang Xinzhi, Special Representative of President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China and Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, who attended the presidential inauguration ceremony, at the President’s Residence on the afternoon of April 10.

During the meeting, the President first expressed his gratitude for coming to the inauguration ceremony on behalf of the President of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Xi Jinping, and said that Myanmar and China are neighboring countries, friendly countries, and inseparable neighbors. He also expressed his gratitude for the Chinese President's congratulatory message sent within hours of his election as President.

Then, the Special Representative of the President of the People's Republic of China and Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference said he conveyed the Chinese President’s greetings to the President. His attendance at the inauguration ceremony as the Special Representative of the President of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Xi Jinping, demonstrates China's special commitment to building a friendly community between the two countries. The brotherly friendship between our two countries has existed for a long time and has been mutually beneficial for a long time. He also expressed his gratitude for Myanmar's support for the one-China policy. China has consistently supported Myanmar's sovereignty, security, development and safeguarding its national interests. They expressed their support for the actions of the government led by the current President.

They then discussed issues related to further enhancing friendship and cooperation between the two countries, cooperation for peace and stability in the border areas between the two countries and China’s assistance in Myanmar’s internal peace process, mutual support on the international front, Myanmar’s continued progress on the path of multiparty democracy desired by the people, anti-online gambling and cross-border crime cooperation, and cooperation in trade, culture, tourism, education, media, and youth affairs.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for the Presidential Office U Khin Maung Yi, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Tin Maung Swe, the Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Ms. Ma Jia and officials.
