Woman injured after rocket explosion hits residential compound in Bilin Township

A woman was injured after a short-range rocket struck and exploded inside a residential compound in Saya San Ward, Bilin Township, Mon State, according to local sources.

The incident occurred at around 11 am. on May 18, when a rocket reportedly landed and exploded inside the yard of a house in Saya San Ward, Bilin Township. As a result of the blast, Daw Khaing Khaing Aye, 42, who was on the ground floor of the house, sustained shrapnel injuries to her arm.

“A woman was hit by shrapnel, but her injuries were not serious,” a local resident said. “Members of a social assistance group transported her to Bilin Township General Hospital for treatment.”

In a separate incident on May 19 at around 1 pm., a drop bomb reportedly exploded on Banyar Road between Kyaikmaraw Police Station and the township legal office in Kyaikmaraw Township.

Authorities said there were no casualties or damage to buildings as a result of the explosion.
